Rest Is Not Quitting: Why Christian Moms Need Time to Recharge
Allowing children to play quietly while you rest is part of raising resilient children. Mothers need time to recharge. They should not feel guilty when they are resting.

Mothers are good at pushing through.
We push through tired mornings, messy kitchens, unfinished laundry, homework questions, attitudes, appointments, work, church, and all the little things nobody else seems to notice.
And somewhere in all that pushing, we forget to breathe.
But rest is not quitting.
Rest is not weakness.
Rest is part of God’s design.
Even God rested after creation.
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” — Genesis 2:2
God did not rest because He was worn out. He rested to show us a rhythm. Work matters, but so does stopping.
Mama, your family does not need a burned-out version of you trying to prove how much you love them. They need a mother who is learning to receive the rest God offers.
Maybe today’s rest looks like a short walk.
Maybe it is coffee with a friend.
Maybe it is turning off the noise and opening your Bible.
Maybe it is saying, “The dishes can wait for a few minutes.”
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
That invitation is for mothers too.
So put your oxygen mask on first.
Breathe.
Let God refresh you.
Then return to your family with a heart that has been filled, not just drained.
If your church or women’s group would like encouragement and practical tools for raising resilient children, I would love to speak with your group.
